About Us
The Swami Vivekananda Development and Educational Trust (SVDE Trust) was founded in 2015 and is officially registered under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882. Guided by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the Trust operates with a vision to bring sustainable change to the lives of rural communities in West Bengal. Established by a diverse team of educators, engineers, scientists, and health & environmental safety experts, SVDE Trust is driven by the belief that access to quality education, healthcare, skill development, and empowerment opportunities is the foundation of a stronger society.
Our approach is holistic—addressing immediate needs like healthcare and livelihood while also building long-term capacity through professional training, entrepreneurship development, and international-standard occupational safety education. Over the years, SVDE Trust has expanded into four dedicated wings, each focusing on a specialized area of social and professional development.
Wing 1 – SVDE Trust: Rural Development & Empowerment
This core wing focuses on improving the quality of life in rural areas, empowering communities to become self-reliant. Initiatives include:
- Healthcare Services – Organizing medical camps, facilitating access to affordable treatment, and promoting preventive healthcare practices.
- Quality Education – Supporting rural schools, introducing modern learning methods, and offering scholarships for underprivileged children.
- Vocational Training – Providing skill-based programs in trades such as tailoring, handicrafts, electrical work, and agri-based businesses.
- Entrepreneurship Support – Assisting rural youth and women in setting up small enterprises through training, mentorship, and microfinance linkages.
- Women Empowerment Programs – Encouraging leadership roles for women, promoting gender equality, and offering self-help group development.
This wing reflects our belief that sustainable community growth begins with grassroots empowerment.
Wing 2 – Academy of Occupational Health & Safety (AOHS)
AOHS is a specialized division of SVDE Trust offering professional education and training in occupational health, safety, and environmental management. Areas of focus include:
- Human Resource Development (HRD) – Building skilled manpower for various industries.
- Occupational Health Practices – Ensuring safe, healthy working environments through best practices and awareness programs.
- Safety Protocols & Risk Management – Training individuals to identify hazards, manage emergencies, and reduce workplace risks.
- Environmental Management – Promoting eco-friendly workplace operations and compliance with environmental laws.
- Security Measures – Equipping professionals to handle industrial and workplace security challenges.
AOHS is recognized for its quality and credibility with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certifications. It is registered with NITI Aayog, MSME, and the Safety Council of India, and has international affiliation with IOSH (UK)—ensuring its programs meet global industry standards.
Wing 3 – Institute of Environment & Safety (IES)
IES is a reputed institute under SVDE Trust that focuses exclusively on the Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS)—a one-year professional course designed to produce highly competent safety professionals. Key features include:
- Comprehensive curriculum covering industrial hazards, accident prevention, safety legislation, and risk assessment.
- Practical workshops, industry visits, and hands-on training for real-world exposure.
- Curriculum aligned to national and international industrial safety standards.
Graduates of IES are equipped for careers in manufacturing, construction, oil & gas, chemical industries, and other high-risk sectors—both in India and abroad.
Wing 4 – National Institute of Fire and Safety Engineering (NIFSE)
NIFSE is dedicated to specialized training in Fire and Safety Engineering, preparing professionals for critical roles in fire prevention, firefighting operations, disaster management, and workplace safety compliance. Key aspects include:
- State-of-the-art fire safety training equipment and simulation facilities.
- Courses designed to meet the demands of national and international fire safety standards.
- Practical and field-oriented approach to ensure graduates are job-ready.
- Placement assistance for careers in fire services, industrial safety departments, and emergency response teams worldwide.

The utilitarian mission is to provide versatile and competent human resource for India and abroad. We emphasize the cultivation of enriched educational and training methodology that would help the youth to unleash their talent, creativity; leadership qualities immensely required for the betterment of the industry and the society as a whole. Honing talent and induce leadership qualities would be a part of our continuous process of overall development. We intend to foster all round development of a student along with management to cope with the complex; dynamic social-economic life and work culture in professional life.

SVDET has been functioning since 2001 and was formally registered under Indian Trusts Act, 1882 in 2015 by a group of well-meaning professionals, educationist and social workers.
Our mandate is “to provide for industry-focussed advanced training and instruction to promote the social, material and industrial welfare of India.” In keeping with the principle, the Trust is continuously striving to bring in new professional courses and training programmes for industrial and social benefit.
Since its inception, the trust through its wings has extended healthcare support, vocational training, industry-oriented high-end programmes to cater to the society in general and industry in particular. The trust has trained more than 5,600 students and teachers and industry personnel, and has been recognized as a Centre for Excellence by all stakeholders.
